Merlot, the top shot from Bordeaux, is popular all over the world. In Switzerland, the grape variety first spread in Ticino, and later on this side of the Alpine chain, including Lake Zurich. The variety presents certain agronomic challenges, but is developing wonderfully in our country. The aging, with two years of aging in barriques followed by one and a half years in bottle, provides an indescribable expression and character.
On the nose, fruit components and a spiciness come together to create a long-lasting firework of flavors on the palate. A wine that is still waiting for its peak.
- Grapes fermented after harvest according to "traditional" maceration, pressed
- after pressing on fine lees filled into barrique
- aging without the use of sulfur in French and South Tyrolean oak provides incredible balance
- after two years of storage, drawn off in July, sedimented and bottled in August 2022, then aging in bottle
